Brain Innovation Days

Early Programme 2026

Science, Scale & Impact: Showcasing Progress, Confronting Challenges

Brain Innovation Days 2026 traces the full arc from discovery to delivery, structured across six thematic blocs that move Europe’s brain innovation agenda from ambition to action.

The programme opens with Science — the foundation on which everything else depends. The Policy Opening sets the stage by positioning brain health as a strategic European priority, while (Re)wiring the EU Innovation Ecosystem examines how scientific excellence can be better connected to entrepreneurship, investment and market uptake. Fostering Science and Innovation confronts the structural realities head-on: fragmented regulation, limited risk capital and insufficient clinical infrastructure that keep promising discoveries from advancing.

Day 2 turns to Scale and Impact. EU Competitiveness in Brain Health names the paradox directly — world-class research that consistently underperforms in translating into scalable, commercially viable innovation — and asks what policy instruments and governance frameworks would close that gap. Redefining Value in Brain Innovation challenges narrow metrics of success, arguing for a fuller account of the human, social and economic cost of inaction. The day culminates in Innovation Scale Up, focused on the practical conditions — capital, infrastructure, trust — needed to move innovations from proof-of-concept to real-world reach.

Together, the six blocs mirror the theme itself: showcasing what is already working in European brain innovation, while honestly confronting what still stands in the way of scaling it for society.
